            Our hotel offers ideal conditions for visiting the English Garden. The family-run Hotel Hauser is located in Maxvorstadt, directly adjacent to the famous Schwabing district. The streets of Schwabing and Maxvorstadt are home to many sights and restaurants where you can stop for a bite to eat. However, especially in the sunny months, our English Garden, Munich’s green oasis, is the absolute highlight for many guests. The English Garden is a local recreation area right in the centre of Munich and offers countless opportunities for relaxation and sporting activities.<\/p>\n

            Walk to the English Garden<\/h2>\n

            Take advantage of our hotel’s location near the English Garden and visit one of the largest inner-city parks in the world on foot. Our hotel is just a few steps away from the Schwabing district, home to the English Garden. In just 10 minutes, you can comfortably walk to Munich’s green lung. Depending on where you enter the garden, you will arrive directly at the famous Eisbach. This is used by many surfing enthusiasts because of the famous \u2018Eisbach wave\u2019, a standing wave. Sports fans meet here and surf in almost any weather. This is always an amazing sight, especially in summer, and something you should see at least once. From here, you can either continue along the Eisbach or follow the course of the Schwabinger to explore the English Garden or walk to the Isar. Of course, we should not forget to mention that Munich’s park is also beautiful in winter, autumn and spring and always worth a visit.<\/p>\n

            Meeting point: Chinese Tower<\/strong><\/h2>\n

            From our hotel at the English Garden, you can also quickly reach the Chinese Tower. Those who are not familiar with it may wonder why there is a Chinese building in the Bavarian capital, right in the centre of the local recreation area. In fact, the tower has a long history dating back to 1789. This was when the English Garden was opened, and with it the tower as a central viewing platform. The question of why it was Chinese architectural style that characterised the building is easily explained. This style was simply in vogue at the time and the intention was to build a modern observation tower.<\/p>\n

            To date, the observation tower has suffered repeated fire damage and even burned down completely during the Second World War, around 1952. Fortunately, however, it was rebuilt true to the original and reopened to the public as a viewing point around 1960. Nowadays, however, the viewing platform is no longer freely accessible. On the one hand, the surrounding trees are now taller than the building itself and, on the other hand, it is not structurally designed to withstand the expected visitor load. Only the brass bands that play there from time to time have access to the observation tower to delight the area around it with Bavarian atmosphere. So you see, a good atmosphere is never really far away in the English Garden.<\/p>\n

            When does the music play at the Chinese Tower?
            \nThe Balskapelle usually plays when the weather is nice and, of course, when the beer garden is open.
            \nThe general days are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

            Incidentally, the Chinese Tower has been completely up to date twice in its history… Once when it was built and again in 2002. That’s because it was a pilot project for the installation of Wi-Fi in a public place. Two hotspots were set up on the tower at the time, which was a real innovation back then.<\/p>\n

            What does a visit to the English Garden look like?<\/h2>\n

            Ideally, you should start the day at our hotel with a hearty and delicious breakfast. This will fortify you for the day and ensure that your body has enough energy to enjoy a wonderful day in the English Garden. After this refreshment, you can set off directly from your accommodation into the countryside.<\/p>\n

            If your route isn’t quite so direct, it’s always worth taking a little detour through Schwabing. This district is home to the English Garden, but there are many other sights to explore. Whether it’s a short detour to Leopoldstra\u00dfe, a look through the Siegestor or a drink in the artists’ quarter with its countless bars and pubs \u2013 nothing is really far away in Schwabing.<\/p>\n

Incidentally, the name Viktualienmarkt says it all. It is derived from the word \u2018Viktualien\u2019, which simply means food. Accordingly, most of the goods on offer at the Munich market are food.<\/p>\n

              \nIt is particularly nice to visit the market shortly before opening hours. Here you can experience the real hustle and bustle of Munich city centre and, if you like, enjoy a hearty breakfast.<\/p>\n

              Incidentally, the market full of delicacies is very easy to reach from Marienplatz. Simply head towards \u2018Im Tal\u2019, leaving the town hall on your left, and after a few hundred metres you will find it on your right.
